Show ReviewsMarketing blurb says, "Nobody talks about love anymore, especially not men. They're too busy talking about cars, beer or footy, all good topics in their own right, but none of which are going to help you find love in this crazy world. Not knowing anything about cars or footy (but with a fairly good grounding in beer), young comedian Kent Valentine (JJJ, Joker Poker) devised an experiment to discover the formula for finding love. It involved researching ways that others find love, then testing them all to find out which one works best. As it happened, none of them worked, but the results were funny, and fit nicely into 45 minutes."

Our original plan was to go see Rod Quantock's Australia, but that fell through as we couldn't get any tickets. We chose this show while standing outside the Town Hall looking at the big board for what shows were still on. The others that were in the running were Aaron Keefe and Show Jo.

The basic premise of the show was that Kent took up a New Years Resolution to find true love and how he tried every possible avenue starting off with bars, clubs, moving on to supermarkets, shops, online dating, etc, etc and how he did not succeed.

The location was the Portland Hotel in a small room. My guess is that there were only 50 or so seats at this venue. Very small room with an even smaller stage. Kent Valentine is a Sydneysider who, I reckon, is still very new to the comic scene. He does co-own and organize Mic In Hand, which is a open mic comedy night/event up there.

There is still a lot that can be improved in the show. Firstly, it took more than half the show to get to the part that went through the various things he did... the rest of the show was spent talking about random things like how small time comedians advertise shows at the comedy festival. Also, at times, he was looking far too nervous and unsure of what he wanted to say.

The show was ok... funniest stuff we've seen so far, which is a bit sad. I feel there could have been more material in it and less random talk and that would have made the show more memorable.
