TravelFramingham is a small town 20 miles from Boston CBD and was where Richard and I were staying during our trip to Boston. Our actual work was in Sudbury, which is about 6.5 miles from Framingham. We decided to stay here instead of Sudbury, 'cause all the google searching told us Sudbury was a very small town with nothing in it... not even a pub.

Staying in Framingham was like staying in a shopping centre. The main street has like 6 huge shopping malls in close proximity. In addition, there were lots of restuarants, so food was never an issue.

Our first day it cost us $22 for a taxi to Sudbury and on the way back, it cost even more 'cause we had to call a taxi from Framingham to Sudbury. The US does not have 2-3 companies like Australia. Each town has its own private cab company and we didnt have the phone number of any taxi company in Sudbury. After that we decided we would be better of renting a car and duely got overselves a Subaru Outback. Public transport was non-existent, so having a car also allowed us to explore the area a bit more.

One thing about Framingham is that even though there are countless shops and restuarants, there are no pubs, no music, no night clubs. Whoever we asked what we could do for entertainment at night, the answer was always to head into town (Boston).

On the third night, we decided to do just that and drove into Boston. Getting in was easy, but once in, we could not find any bars or crowds anywhere. The whole place was deserted. We were right in the middle of the CBD. Also, like Sydney, there are lots of one way streets and without a map, we had difficulty finding our way out. In the end, we just gave up and got onto the turnpike that was going West and decided that we will exit that when we see a recognisable sign. Now, the turnpike is a toll road. We went through two tolls and paid a $1 at each at the person in the booth. At the next one, there was no one there, so we went straight through. At the next one, there was a person asking us to show a ticket. Apparently, we should have taken a ticket at the empty booth and given that in. We were plugged the max fee of $2.40 and our ignorance did not let us of the hook.

Next time, I will not stay at Framingham and would prefer staying in Boston and driving out as Framingham is a boring place.
