After much whining about how there is nothing to do around Sudbury and Framingham, we were invited out to Waltham for dinner and drinks at Watch City Micro-brewery in Waltham.
Driving into Waltham, we noticed such a big change from Framingham or Sudbury... there were actual people out. The main street of Waltham was more like Bridge Road.... small single lane with loads of people and shops/restuarants. It was nearly impossible to find parking there and we ended up parking in one of the side alleys.
The bar was really nice with a large selection of different types of local brews, which makes no use to a non-beer drinker. Unfortunately, they did not have any spirits, so I was stuck with just soft drinks, which isn't all that bad. I've noticed that refills are free pretty much in any restuarant here.
After food, we were feeling ready to go out and have some more fun. Imagine our horror when we left the restuarant at around 9:30 PM and the street outside was deserted.... not a single soul or car in sight. The place had completely transformed from when we had arrived at the bar. We went to an Irish pub down the road and there was no one there, the music was shit and we left soon after.
It seems like if you want to have any sort of fun in Boston, you can only have it in Boston proper and only on Fri/Sat night. Any other night is a slow night with nothing going on anywhere.
